Over the past few years we have seen IT departments begin to take more ownership of the litigation support efforts for their organization. We are just back from LegalTech West in Los Angeles where we saw the number of IT attendees increase significantly from the previous year. New titles such as: Senior Counsel Legal Technology, eDiscovery IT Manager and Litigation Support Technology Manager visited the Index Engines booth to discuss their projects.
These new IT professionals are working within the IT organization to satisfy legal discovery requirements. They work closely with the General Counsel’s office to make sure their ESI is litigation ready for efficient and cost effective access to files and email in support of future litigation. The most common justification for these new positions is the migration from expensive and time consuming reactive litigation support efforts.
